Do The Irish Pick Up, Where They Left Off?

A few weeks ago, Notre Dame demolished South Florida And the Irish had the look of a team developing an identity, to believe in.

A run game to believe in.

Chris Tyree 8-65 yards

Kyren Williams 10-for 62 yards,

C’Bo Flemister 13 carries 127 yards

6 rushing TDs, in total 281 yards on the ground, a 6.2 yard per carry clip behind a steamrolling offensive line.

A stifling defense to believe in.

The Irish notched the shutout and held South Florida to 41% passing good for just 125 yards.

Those are numbers to believe in!

And young players are creating believers.

Freshman Jordan Botelho was a terror on special teams, Safety Houston Griffin, 5 tackles, Freshman cornerback Clarence Lewis 3 passes defended and Jack Kiser, started the week on the scout team and ended up leading the Irish in tackles.

But just when an identity to believe in was coming into focus……

Positive tests! Quarantined players! Postponed game…. the program descended into the Covid zone.

And, it’s been a long three weeks.

Now after the unplanned break, the Irish look to pick up where they left off: a team developing a devastating run game, and playing stifling defense and with new talent emerging, all over the field.

A team building an identity…… you can believe in.
